If you're inclined towards company, and don't mind the late show, I'd be happy to join you for the 9.30 showing of Hancock.

My brilliant notion is NSFW, alas.

I have heard similar good things about Wall-E from many corners, as it happens.

But it looks so cute. And I so don't do cute.

And that's exactly why I haven't bothered seeing it, either. Even though I occasionally do do cute.

It's extremely cute in a totally misanthropic kind of way.

Hancock is worth cheap-movie prices if you're bored enough. Otherwise fix the good bath and then soak while reading.

I don't do that last, for dexterity issues; the thought of dropping a book in the bath terrifies me.

Oh! My sympathies. What do you do in the bath, then?

Mm, lovely icon. I prefer the original "ce n'était pas ma faute," but Malkovich is so wonderfully slimy.

Fit my own stories together in my head, mostly. When circumstances permit me not to just fret instead.

Mm, lovely icon.

Thank you.

Oh yes, but with just the right degree of intelligible to stop him becoming unsympathetic enough to make the character too simple.

Yes, just like in the book. Valmont may be my favorite unreliable narrator of all time. Unless it's Merteuil--every time I read it, I change my mind about what's really going on with her.

Yep. Although what's-her-face in Valmont didn't suck.

Bening. Yes, her.

You should really see it. They monkey with the end, but I actually find it more pleasing than the original. And the costumes! And the dancing!! The dancing is utterly accurate, including the way Valmont seduces Mme Tourvel. That's really one of the ways people got seduced back then.

By the way, this posting says July 9, which gave me a bit of a start, because I have a doctor's appointment that I Must Not Miss on July 9. But everyone else (plus my computer) seems to agree that it's actually July 8.

Go see Hancock, because it is a pretty good movie and is being poorly marketed, so will not last long.

You're probably home for the evening already, presumably without the means to clear the drain of your larger bathtub, but this information may be useful for future reference. My (extensive) experience with recalcitrant drains indicates that pouring baking soda down them accomplishes little or nothing in the way of making them drain faster. When the inside of the drain is wet with sour milk and it smells bad, that's the kind of drain problem baking soda is good for. The commercial drain openers based on lye are enormously more effective. More than once, I have found them to be the only alternative to calling a plumber to take the pipes apart. I find them easier and safer to use than pouring boiling water down the drain (which only occasionally works.) Now Drano makes a product they say is "for slow-running drains," which I find very useful when my bathtub is starting to get uncooperative. With the problem you describe, I'd expect you to see substantial benefit from any chemical drain opener, whether it was made to address complete or partial blockages.

I know lye has a formidable reputation, but the lye in drain openers is fairly dilute. It's about as caustic as bleach. You should wear glasses, refrain from pouring it on your feet, and wash up afterwards...but you don't need a hazmat suit or even particularly steady hands.
