10:09: no pain, summer rain
Got in nice and early for phone meeting to find it's had to be cancelled because one of the collaborators at the Cambridge end has been taken ill; have just sent a message wishing for a speedy recovery and suggesting rescheduling for two weeks from now.

I have just received a notice in the mail telling me to come pick up my new Permanent Residence card at the relevant downtown office Tuesday, which is a great relief. (Also some Martha Wells books that IIRC were a recommendation from hawkwing_lb, thank you.) The selection of paperwork they want brought along to pick it up is slightly different from the selection of paperwork they wanted sent in to acquire it in the first place, and I can't help feeling it's something of a fail on the "competent adult" roll to have quite so little idea where some of that paperwork is.

Also, am still enjoying Hannibal and Orphan Black immensely, talking to people online is fun, the kitchen floor remains unwashed and the current plan is to do so and leave it to dry while out at the cinema at the weekend and -

OK, that plan may have changed mid-sentence. While poking cinemamontreal.com to see if it had showtimes for Thor 2 somewhere sensibly accessible and not in 3D, I have just discovered that Krrish 3 is showing in cinemas here this week. (Though it would appear that the numeral is counting Koi... Mil Gaya as well so this is actually the direct sequel to the one I have seen.)

If you like those, you should also try her Fall of Ile-Rien series--the main character in them is the daughter of the main character in Necromancer. She's really great.
