15:40: winter is cold, but not cold enough
The upsides to having all-we-could-eat sushi last night included a very useful writing-related conversation with papersky, and also eating a lot of delicious raw fish, which was at least biochemically good for my mood. The downside was slipping on a patch of wet slush on the way home, mildly pulling something in the small of my back and wrenching my left ankle; I had a long hot bath and papersky rubbed it and it is much improved but still feels strained and like it might be easy to hurt again, so I am being extra-careful for a bit; taking the bus all the way from work to the metro and then the 90 back out, rather than getting off the bus and walking two blocks south on Melrose which included the largely uncleared pedestrian tunnel under the railway. seems wise. Also avoiding stairs where possible. It does, alas, look like the temperature will not drop below freezing much until Monday, so lots of icky water standing on snow of the sort I planned travel in March to avoid.

The good news about the latest thing $bio_boss has decided is the Top Priority Above All Others at zero notice is that I've spent about half of the last week working on it anyway of my own initiative, rather than the previous Priority Above All others which it was becoming increasingly clear was not a thing worth my doing.

Also, the potential new collaborators on the other side of the Atlantic turn out not to be able to get a meeting room for a weekly conference call that would be at 1000 Wednesdays our time, and $IT_boss has OKed having it at 0900 Wednesdays instead, scorch it.

Ouch, evil slush *hugs* glad you're being cautious about other potential slippy things, how are you now?
